I have posted adverts expressing my availablity on Gumtree Dating for ‘Guys seeking Girls’. I am a 38 year old male of Indian descent. Why is the response to my advert so low? Is it because most British women are racists who will not meet any males except those who are white? If this is not the reason, what is?
From a female point of view, I think I’d rather have men come to me rather than look at their profile and contact them. In fact, I’d expect it. Keep your profile up to date but contact the women you like and if they’re interested they’ll look at it. BTW good spelling and grammar is always a plus, you have that so it should help! Everyone likes a photo too.

It’s probably because you’re Asian. I’m Asian and the same thing happened to me – they don’t want to date outside their own kind.

Not bitter – just saying it like it is. I’m quite attractive in real life and have big muscles and had girls fighting over me at work/university.
EDIT – It may also be your height. I’m 5 foot 6" and am considered too short.

Yeah, to be brutally honest being of Indian descent may be working against you.
White women (and most women on there will be white) tend not to go for Asian guys, unless they get to know them well first. It might not be fair or right, but it’s the way it is.
Maybe try Match.com or something, because on there your ad will only be shown to the women who indicate that Asian is one of their preferred ethnicities.

That’s a bit paranoid,and racist. Gumtree is full of idiots,you’ll arrange a date then they wont turn up,you’d be better off with a proper dating site like Match.com

I made a profile on gumtree about 6 months ago and had very little (if any) response from it, so i gave up with it in the end!
I think its because most women on there are bombarded with e-mails from hundreds of guys, so this makes them to be very selective as to who they respond to, expecially if the womens profile is hot!
I mean if you received over 100 emails a week from women on gumtree, you’d be selective as to who you reply to wouldn’t you? – its the same for them.
For your info, I am a Caucasian, young man who is not bad looking and i have had a similar experience to you!
I have been told that Match.com is far better, although there is a subscription fee.
