For homeowners, do it yourself projects undoubtedly occupy many of your weekends. Mail order plumbing makes plumbing upgrades cheaper, particularly if you plan ahead.

Ordering Your Plumbing Parts Through The Mail

The Internet has given rise to so many new and, frankly, odd things that there seems to be no end to it. One of the hugely popular areas that have arisen is the area of home improvements. You can see practically anything online, shop for the best price and have it delivered to your door. This, of course, fits in with the American motto of give me convenience or give me death! If nothing else, you avoid the mobs at the local hardware store each weekend.

There are a vast number of sites offering mail order plumbing products. Products range from complete pieces for renovations, such as entire plumbing systems for bathrooms, kitchens and so on to more isolated components. The sites allow you to see a completed project [so you can groan later when yours doesn't look like it] and often provide detailed instructions on installation.  Of course, the downside is there isn’t anyone to actually talk to when your project starts to look like abstract art.

It’s also easy to order individual plumbing parts off of sites. If you do this, be careful! Matching parts you need to those on a site can be a bit sketchy. First of all, there is no guarantee the site used the correct photograph for the part. What you see may not be what you get. Second, you need to know exactly what you need including sizing and accessories. Third, you have to wait for the parts to appear. You can find tremendous pricing for non-emergency projects, but major leaks usually need immediate attention.

Two of the main reasons to shop online for your plumbing needs are: First, you can click around to find the best price. Second, you can always find what you want, even if you have to hunt through a few sites. This can be particularly advantageous if you have a unique situation which none of the local stores have parts for. There is always some online store specializing in the esoteric.

If you are looking for good prices, planning ahead and know exactly what you want, give online plumbing sites a try.

Locks – The History

History of Locks – People have always felt the urge to protect what they possess. They start by covering the entrance of their caves with stones; later they hid their gold and jewels in the ground.

Then they discovered locks. These were first made of wood and rope. They served the purpose well, although they were not so nicely designed. There is a lot of historical proof which certifies the use of locks long before we could imagine. Even in the Bible (Old Testament, Books of Judges) we have frequent mention of locks and keys.

Types of Locks – In our modern society we have keys and locks for everything: our houses, office, car, the even bicycles. We even have more than one key for the same building; keys and locks are so much a part of our daily routine that we don’t even think about them.

But we should give it thought when we have to choose the appropriate lock and key for our needs. Basically we are talking about mechanical locks (based on mechanical activation of the keys) electro-mechanical locks (can be both mechanical or electrical activated, but usually the key is replaced with numbered buttons that have to be pressed) and electrical locks (activated by a card key that has a particular code, programmed to be read by a card reader which is controlled by an automated central or a local processor).

The art of picking a lock? – Picking a lock is not actually as complicated as we think, but it’s also not as easy as it appears in the movies. Some say that this requires both art and science. You do need to have good knowledge of the lock mechanism and some practice at picking it.

The first step is to insert a tension wrench in the lock (a screwdriver for example) and, with a slight pressure, turn the plug (the lock cylinder) like the proper key would have done (we have to figure out what is the normal direction for the key to be turned). It will help create a small place between the lock pins (placed inside the lock). Then we have to insert a lock pick in order to lift them up (like the proper key will do when inserted in the lock). Doing this and continuing to apply pressure on the tension wrench we will hear a slight click (made by the pins when they fall in the right position) and the lock will be unlocked.

For simple or uncomplicated locks we can use a metal hair pin as a lock pick. But professional locksmiths need an adequate pick tools kit. Basically this contains a tension wrench (they have different shapes and sizes) and several picks(long pieces of metal which are curved up at one end). Some can use an electrical pick gun (contains long pieces of metal and when they vibrate push the pins up and unlock the lock).

Re keying lock – It is quite simple to re-key a lock but it shouldn’t be confused with the process of replacing a lock. Actually it consists of disassembling the lock cylinder and replacing all the old lock pins with new ones, to match the new key. Then the cylinder is reinstalled in the lock!

You would want to re-key a lock when a member of the family loses the house key and we assume that a burglar has it. We should immediately re key the house lock to prevent a potential theft. It doesn’t cost a lot in time and money, but it can spare us a big stress. The same procedure is advisable when moving into a new house/apartment.

Men and women have been sewing clothing from centuries ago. Sewing clothes was once merely an essential task so that people today could wear the sewn garments. However, sewing has also become an integral practice within the fashion industry as well. This is the reason that sewing equipment have become so necessary these days. Computerized, electronic, home, industrial and mechanical are some of the types of the sewing devices available these days. When it comes to heavy duty sewing needs and a high production setting, the sewing equipment that are most ideal for this purpose are the heavy duty sewing devices.

The sewing machines that are meant for home use are not able to be used challenging and complex sewing purposes, especially because of the intricate styles and the thick materials involved. In this case, buying a sewing machine from the heavy duty variety will be necessary to carry out such heavy sewing work.

The heavy duty types of sewing equipment themselves are also available in a variety of kinds and sizes. carrying out complicated sewing tasks becomes a lot easier when using these types of sewing devices. These types of sewing equipment are much durable and powerful, and they also perform quite immaculately and speedily.

These sewing equipment can be used to manufacture quite an extensive product range given that thicker materials and other materials can be conveniently used. goods such as awnings, belts, cushions, pillows, tents, saddles, sails and upholstery are some of the products that can be sewn with the use of these sewing equipment. While heavy duty sewing devices can even used at properties, however, considering that they might take up to much room it is better to select one that is less voluminous.

A walking foot is one particular unique component that is a part of these types of sewing machines. When sewing multiple levels of materials such as denim or leather-based together, they are prevented from moving by the walking foot.

Sewing speeds of up to 1000 stitches or more per second are provided by the sewing devices from the heavy duty variety. Even though these sewing machines carry out such heavy duty sewing tasks, however, they can be quickly and basically operated. Whether lightweight or heavier fabrics need to be sewn, the task of sewing them can be efficiently transported out using these sewing devices. Some of the other characteristics of these sewing machines include a free arm layout, an ext bed and an inbuilt needle threader.

These types of sewing machines are presently available in many different types and are being manufactured by various brands. Despite of becoming really useful and especially ideal for high end production, these very efficient sewing devices are available within an affordable price range. aside from being capable of sewing heavier fabrics, these devices also feature numerous other exciting attributes too.

Working with heavy fabrics is not an easy task and sewing them is even more difficult. This is the reason that heavy duty sewing equipment are perfect for both business and home sewing needs where heavy fabrics are involved.

You don’t need to call a plumber and spend money on a service call with a few easy steps you can become your own “master plumber”.

Firstly, you need to turn off the water supply to the sink, most of the time the valve is located right underneath, if not you need to follow the pipe to the nearest shut off valve. If the valve won’t turn, put a drop or two of oil right where the stem disappears into the large nut. Then use a wrench to loosen the nut one complete turn, and tighten it back up by hand. Wait for a few minutes and then you should be able to turn the valve off.

Secondly, remove the stem from the top of the fixture, there will be nut that needs to be turned counterclockwise to be taken off. Grasp the handle and turn it counterclockwise, as if you were turning on the water. The whole thing will lift out in your hand. If you have a ball-type fixture, there will be a setscrew on the lower surface of the handle itself, remove the screw. There will be a plastic ring or cap just unscrew and remove then pull out the ball assembly.

Your almost finished, just need to replace the washer, which should still be attached the ball assembly you just pulled out, there’s a screw holding it on so remove that, replace it with the new washer, tighten the screw back on, be sure not to go to tight where the washer starts to become damaged. Reinsert the stem assembly, and twist it firmly clockwise (don’t over tighten it). Tighten the large nut back into place. Turn the water valve back on and that’s it! If it still leaks it may mean you have to replace the valve seat or replace the entire fixture. You will need to purchase a repair kit that you can find at your local plumbing supply or hardware store.

Use the following steps to replace the ball type fixture: Using the end of the screwdriver, lift out the rubber seats and springs. Replace them with the new ones in the kit. Tug the spout off the base by turning it from side to side and lifting up. Then use the screwdriver to leverage the old O-rings off the base. If they need to be cut off, make sure that you clean off any remaining pieces. Roll the new O-rings over the base to replace them. Re-seat the faucet by turning it from side to side while pushing down. Place the ball assembly back in there, and screw the rounded, knurled cap back on.

Prior to re-tightening the adjusting ring with the special tool, turn the water back on. Then tighten the ring until no water leaks, but don’t over tighten it. Replace the handle, and tighten the setscrew. You should be all set! It’s a good idea before starting this job to go to your local plumbing supply with the make of your tap just to make sure that all the necessary parts are available.

Excercising Those Abs

Why you do not have “killer abs” or that “6 pack” Abdominal Muscles?

Ask any woman what is the most attractive part of a male body and most of the time, they will tell you it’s the six pack abs meaning that your abdominal muscles showing up with beautiful definition. The abs is considered by many as a sexy muscle and is a symbol of a fit and healthy man. Women are instinctively drawn towards a man brimming with health and fitness because it is a primitive indication that the man is strong enough to protect her and her brood. A rippling six pack abs is one such indication. So is it any wonder that in every gym, you will see men of all ages doing crunches, leg raisers and sit ups religiously in the hope of obtaining the much coveted killer abs? Unfortunately, most men will never get to see their abdominal muscle in its glorious splendor. Why? The following fitness tip will show you why.

You may not like what I am going to give to you straight in the face here. But I will give it to you anyway. So here it goes. Listen up carefully. You may do a zillion crunches a day, then another another million leg raisers , but as long as there is a layer of fat covering your tummy, you will never see your abs because it is covered by the blubber of fat. In fact, your waistline will become bigger because you are adding muscles underneath the fats! So instead of having a slim waistline and showing off your abs, you will have a bigger waistline and thicker love handles. Now get this straight. There is no such thing as spot reduction! Once the fats are off, your abs will show. That I promise you. It is just that simple to display your abs. Lose fats! That’s all.

Late night TV commercials or magazines has been telling you that you can have well defined abs by using this gadget or that electronic gizmo. Do you really believe that it is that simple? If it is so, then everyone will have that six pack abs in no time, won’t they? Then why isn’t that so? Because it doesn’t work that way.

To lose fat effectively and permanently for your abdominal muscles to show, you must include a mildly deficit calorie restriction diet, frequent cardio workouts and strength training with weights to build muscle so as to raise your metabolism in order to lose weight and burn fat naturally. Your weight loss goals will not be achieved effectively or permanently when any one of the three elements is done wrongly or not even incorporated in your slimming program. I repeat the three elements again :-

a) A mildly caloric deficit diet – A mildly caloric deficit diet to help you lose weight.

b) Frequent cardio workouts – Frequent cardio workout to exercise your heart and lungs and burn fat at the same time.

c) Weight Lifting to build muscles – Build muscles to burn fat permanently as muscles use up more calories from your food for energy. Lifting weights will also give you a well toned body and help your abs to show.

A muscle building supplement like creatine is also excellent for helping you get the most out of those workouts.

Forget about any fad diets or popping slimming pills . These may work initially but in the long run, they are bound to fail.

A Bicycle Tour of Queens NY

Yesterday was a pretty interesting day, the weather was cool and overcast, with rain coming in during the latter part of the afternoon. A few weeks ago I had booked a meeting with one of the Big Apple Greeters, an organization of local NYC volunteers that takes out-of-town visitors around the city and shows them local sights and shares local information. The service is a great way to link up with a local New Yorker, and best of all, it’s free of charge.

We were supposed to meet Suzanne, our greeter, at 11:00 am at the 71st Street subway station, but we got a late start after breakfast and there were some delays on the subway system, so we didn’t meet Suzanne until 11:50 am. Suzanne is a former highschool teacher, in her sixties, and a very friendly and outgoing individual. We felt bad about being late, but she said it wasn’t a problem at all. She was extremely gracious and helpful throughout our entire time with her.

Suzanne started the tour by taking us through a very upscale Queens neighbourhood called Forest Hill Gardens, which is a neighbourhood with private streets where local residents pay higher than normal taxes for additional services, such as more frequent garbage pickup etc. Suzanne indicated that these homes go from anywhere from US$ 1 million and up. Everything was blooming and many local handymen, gardners and maids were on the road. We also had a chance to visit the old US Open Tennis Center which is located in an amphitheatre right next to the Forest Hill Country Club & Carpet Cleaning Queens NY.

On from there we took a bus to the Flushing neighbourhood, an area with lots of Chinese and Korean stores, where Suzanne treated us to same savory Chinese dumplings. All the time she explained to us the multicultural character of Queens, and that one of the main subway trains (the 7 train) is called “The International Express” because it cuts through all sorts of ethnic neighbourhoods.

When we left at about a quarter to 7 pm, Suzanne had spent more than 7 hours with us and we had really gotten to know each other quite well on a personal level. We also we ended up exchanging email addresses and we extended mutual invitations to stay in touch and I said I’d love to take her around whenever she comes to the Toronto area.

The Greeter experience has been excellent, our personal local expert really loves her city and she loves interacting with visitors and we definitely enjoyed her enthusiasm. I am sure we have a new friend to call up next time we come to New York City.

Using Concrete In Your Home

Concrete is an extraordinary material that is practical, expressive, and aesthetic all at once. From a primal and formless slurry, you can transform it into virtually any shape that becomes a solid mass. The possibilities for creative expression are endless. You can grind, polish, stamp, or stain it. You can embed meaningful objects within it.

Concrete has substance and mass, permanence and warmth. It feels earthy, and is at home in both traditional and modern settings. It assumes forms that irrevocably touch our daily lives-bridges, highways, floors, walls… even countertops. Concrete is also surprisingly tactile. Cast and shaped, it can feel like stone rounded by the sea. Textured and colored, it can echo the patina of timeworn tile.

It first occurred to me to make a countertop out of concrete in 1985, when a friend and I were hired to design and renovate a professor’s house in the Berkeley Hills. He gave us a modest budget and announced, “This is all I can afford to spend; do whatever you want.” Armed with this rare creative license (and plenty of youthful exuberance) we aimed to be as innovative as possible.

This invitation to imagine, play, and explore inevitably led me to experiment in my own kitchen, where concrete and I began what is now our nearly two-decade dance. My first countertop was a single piece containing 11 cubic feet of concrete. It weighed nearly 1500 pounds and took 10 people-and 2 engine hoists-to turn it over once it had cured. We barely managed it, but the piece came out beautifully and is still being put to good use today.

Because of its adaptability, concrete finds itself welcome in all areas of the home, especially in the kitchen and bath, but also in fireplaces, patios, garden paths, or water features. Concrete can also be used as a floor material with enormous creative advantages whether seeded, stained, stamped, broomed or diamond-finished. It can be a sole performer or play the supporting role to tile, mosaics, decorative aggregates, stone, wood, or metal. It is inexpensive, durable, noncombustible, impervious to decay, and also very effective for passive solar gain in the right application.

With vertical treatments, concrete gives us an opportunity to recapture some of the feeling of the monolithic wall-the feeling of substance, of protection. Walls are also a great place to explore form. A wall doesn’t have to be flat or straight, but can curve and undulate. It can be textured to be rough as stone or smooth as glass.

Use hydraulic cement foundation repair if you find cracks in your basement walls. Hydraulic cement is great because it will set even in wet areas.

Swimming Pool Plumbers

The plumbing network is the mainstay of your swimming pools. The quality of your pools totally depends on their plumbing substructures. Swimming Pool Plumbing includes the pipes and fixtures for the distribution and disposal of pool water.

Swimming Pool Plumbing is responsible for the working of all the departments of your pools, such as pool filtration, pool cleaning, chlorination systems, waterfalls, pool/spa heating, spa jets/air, skimmers, aerators, auto water-levelers, drains/returns.

Swimming Pool Plumbing mainly includes the flitting of pumps, plumbing runs, auto water levelers, filters, gas heaters, and chlorinators. Your pumps are the source of water for your pools. The size of your pools is the factor that determines the right horsepower of the pumps. You should pumps exactly according the size the length of your plumbing runs, other wise you’ll be paying higher monthly electricity bills.

Your plumbing runs cost depend on the length of your plumbing runs; more the length, more you’ll be paying. Your pool run substructures hold the main key in getting the best pools. So, these need to set up the best possible ways to get effective results.

The Auto Water Levelers (AWLs) of your pools are tapped into the hoses that are used to fill your pools. Usually, 3/4″ PVC hookups are used to link up AWLs. Auto Water Levelers are the devices that monitor the water level of your pools and automatically fill up your pools when the water level dips below a certain level.

You can put your heaters the locations best suiting to your pools, but your heaters needed to be at least four feet from any property line. According to the U.S. state codes, the exhaust vent of the heater unit must be 4 feet from any property line.  The unit itself can be within the 4 foot boundary, but not the exhaust vent.

Skimmers are also chosen according to the sizes of your pools. Skimmers skim off / suck up the leaves and other debris floating at the surface of the water of your pools. Skimmers are installed right at the water lines so that at normal levels, the pool water is about halfway up their mouths. The rest of the debris settles down to the bottom where your pool vacs can suck it up. The main drains are tied to the bottom of the skimmers. The drains are mainly used to provide enough water from the pool for filtration. Usually 2″ PVC are used in all skimmer plumbing. These include the runs from the equipment to the skimmers and from the skimmers to the main drains.

The pipes that return filtered water back to the pool are called returns. The water “sucked” from the pool via the pool vac and/or the skimmer/main drains goes through the filter and returns the pool evenly distributed through these return pipes. Nowadays, looped returns are run by most of pool plumbers to give even water flow distribution; this is called an Anti-Vortex drain.

Swimming Pool Plumbing services are offered by several professional pool companies. There are a number of professional pool companies operating all over the states. Some companies also do offer their services in packages that normally include HP Hayward Pumps, Sand, DE, or Cartridge Filtration Systems, Pool Vac Cleaning Systems, 15′ Plumbing Runs, Auto Water Levelers, and Standard Chlorination Systems.

Finding Local Plumbers

Having problems with your drainage system? Does it have leaks? You may be in the market for a plumber. Not sure where to turn? The good news is that it is fairly easy to find a reliable, experienced plumber for any of your household jobs.

One way to find a plumber is via word of mouth. You can ask friends and neighbors for referrals. They may know of someone who has previously done plumbling work at their home. Best of all, they may know someone in the neighborhood who does plumbing work who can report to your house right away.

If you can’t obtain the name of a plumber via word of mouth, you can look at the yellow pages and find a plumbing company or a union. You will be shown a list of plumbers in your area along with contact information. With so many listings, you are virtually assured of finding someone to handle your situation.

You can also look for plumbers online. Make sure that you search your local area only. Within a few keystrokes, you can locate a plumber, find contact information, and call to set up an appointment. They will most likely ask what has happened with your leaking taps. If it is not that severe and you can fix it up, they will just give you some easy instructions on how to fix it. If it is just a simple problem, you need not have a plumber to go over your house.

The newspaper in the classifieds section is a good resource for plumbers. But again, you have to make sure that you search in your local area only. Those who are in the web and the classifieds are the ones that you need to trust. Although there are good plumbers without enough apprenticeship but with good skills, engineers would always require those which are prominent in the field.

Some people would always run to the plumber who had been pointed by their friends even if they are not efficient and experienced plumbers for the reason they charge only a little amount compared to the plumbers in the union.

If you really want to be highly selective, you can search for those plumbers with identification, which includes years of experience. If your house has some little problems with leaks, there is really no need to consult the best plumbers, paying the highest cost when even the apprentice can fix minor problems.

You need the best plumbers if you are building a new home. The plumbing and drainage need to be detailed, and it’s the plumber’s task to read through the blueprint of your house. A starting plumber cannot understand properly the details in the blue prints, only those who have been in the field for a long time. Building a home needs the best plumbers so that the plumbing features can last for a long time. in the future if it leaks, you can ask a local plumber to fix it up for you. If you’re in Hastings NZ then Plumbers Hastings will be your first stop!

Plumbing is something we use every day and which most of us know little about. Shopping for your own plumbing fixtures rather than getting them through your plumber allows you choose from a wider selection and save money.

Most people are familiar with plumbers, who come to their home to unclog a drain or install an appliance. When construction plumbers install piping in a house, for example, they work from blueprints or drawings that show the planned location of pipes, plumbing fixtures, and appliances.

Water enters your house through a pipe that connects either to a municipal water line or a private well. Faucets, like all plumbing fixtures with moving parts, are apt to require more repair than non-moving fixtures. The less strain you put on your faucets, the less frequently they need repair.

If your plumbing fixtures drain slowly, the problem may be a clogged vent. This happens when vents are improperly located and when birds or animals deposit debris in the vent where it exits the roof.

Whatever your intended plumbing projects, the first step is to familiarize yourself with the water system in your home. At the very least it is important to know where to switch off the mains in case of an emergency.

For your plumbing emergencies, give Plumbers Hamilton a call.

In the exciting world of day trading, eminis have become a massively preferred and lucrative form of trading. But what is it exactly and why has it become so well-liked?

E minis are a method that’s employed to trade an index such as the S&P500 but on a much smaller scale than trading the index themselves. An e mini will allow you to get into the index contract at a fraction (about one fifth) of the expense of the full contract. This can make emini trading reasonably priced to quite a few more personal investors/traders and has permitted the market to really open up.

So besides becoming more cost-effective to the day trader, here are some other elements which make day trading eminis so appealing:

* Online Trading

* Nearly 24 hrs a day – The e mini can be traded 23.5 hrs per day, 5 days per week (having said that the market is far more volatile and liquid in the course of the regular US trading hrs.

* Volatility and Liquidity – with the massive volumes being traded on the market every single day, the market is both volatile and liquid.

* Low Brokerage Rates – with online trading there is no necessity for human intervention when placing trades. There are many online brokerage firms who have the software and technology to place your bids, stops and sell instructions at the click of a button.

* Leveraged Product – being a leveraged product means that you pay a relatively small amount but reap the benefits of a ‘big’ contract. So any little gains you make can translate into big profits. Nevertheless, by the same token, any little losses you make can also translate into large financial losses.

Even though day trading eminis is now open to a considerably larger group of traders, it’s still not a novice’s game. You need to get training on how to trade the e mini market and you absolutely need to make certain you practice by paper trading initially. Yes there is a lot of money to be produced in day trading eminis but there’s also a lot of income to be lost! Don’t jump into it without first understanding what you’re doing.

Did you know that approximately 79% of Canadians use the Internet? According to Google, 20% of those Internet users go online to search for local business. Whether it be for restaurants, hair salons, pet sitters, bakeries, retailers…you name it. So if your website is not optimized to be found, then you are potentially losing out on 20% of the traffic.

What exactly is Off-Site SEO? Off-Site Search Engine Optimization is when brick and mortar businesses have their website optimized so that they can be found on the Internet by major search engines. For example: let’s say you’re a small business looking for a reasonably priced SEO Ottawa company to help you out. You would type into Google “SEO Ottawa” for a list of local businesses that do SEO in Ottawa.

Hopefully, if you are one of those local business listings that show up for the above search in Google Maps, you have “claimed” ownership of your business site. Google offers this service for free and it is simple to do. However, only 15% of small businesses have actually claimed their site. Millions of users are looking at these Google Maps listings every day. Don’t you want your business information to be accurate and up-to-date? If you are one of the nearly 2 million businesses that has claimed their Google Maps listing, then you are way ahead of the game.

However, there is so much more to off-site SEO than claiming your Google business listing. Having a blog, Facebook page, Twitter account, are all important components for SEO. But even these social network sites are just a small part of the equation. Your site needs to be keyword rich, have backlinks, header tags, and all the other SEO lingo that goes with optimizing your site.

But you don’t have to be well-versed in any of this to make it work. That’s what SEO companies are for. It’s unlikely you would fix your own plumbing in your office should it spring a leak, you don’t want to be fixing your own website when you don’t have the knowledge.

With off-Site SEO becoming increasingly popular, more businesses are realizing that they need to step up their game when it comes to their website. Advertising in the Yellow Pages is becoming a thing of the past. It’s expensive, and you never really know how many times people have looked at your ad. With off-site SEO you get those statistics up front. And because the information is interactive, you can use video to be found, as well as be optimized for mobile phone users. Once small business owners realize the power of the Internet as opposed to advertising in the phonebook, the opportunities are endless.

Most small business owners are struggling with just keeping their business alive and running. Having to work on their website and learning exactly what needs to be done to get better rankings in search engines is something they want to do. However, they’re not quite sure how to go about doing it.

That’s where doing a search for “SEO Ottawa” on Google will help you. And off-site SEO doesn’t have to be outrageously expensive to be good. There are many reasonably priced companies that are willing to help you out. Keep in mind that if your SEO campaign is done right, the cost of it will be minimal to what you reap in terms of new business in the end.

article writingWisdom can be found in the most unexpected places. Today, wisdom bubbled up from a pineapple under the sea. I suddenly realized that everything you’d want to know about writing articles for your website can be taught by SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends.

When you write for your newsletter, blog, or website, which character are you most like?

Mr. Krabs: This crustacean is focused on one thing and one thing only, making more and more and more money. Only a cartoon could actually have dollar signs drawn in his eyes. He thinks of no one, only how he can benefit. Are your articles focused on you or on the reader? Are you providing information or do you have blinders on, thinking only about how you can make money from the article you are writing? If your article reads like an ad or is self-serving or full of affiliate links, you might write like Mr. Krabs.

article writingPlankton: The smallest creature in the sea is also the sneakiest. He’ll do anything and hurt anyone to steal someoneelse’s work (the Krabby Pattie secret formula). Write your own material. Don’t be Plankton. Don’t copy and paste someone else’s work, edit it, and try to pass it off as your own. You will be caught, and it just isn’t worth it. Take the same amount of effort and work on your own thoughts and ideas. Plankton never gets away with his schemes, either. He’s on Plan “Z” and is still pathetically failing at his attempts to steal the secret formula.

Patrick: SpongeBob’s best friend, the starfish, has a good heart, but isn’t the brightest creature in the sea. Do your articles make you sound like an expert? Are you providing valuable content or just pushing out sloppy articles as fast as you can? Always double check for typos and grammatical errors. If you’re challenged by spelling and grammar, hire a Virtual Assistant or Copywriter to proofread and submit your article for you. Or slow down, set your article aside for a article writingday and then reread it before you click the “submit” button.

Squidward: Squidward is B-O-R-I-N-G. When writing articles, are you a Squidward? Do you just get the words down on paper or are you finding a fun twist to entertain your audience and keep them coming back for more? Take time to make your articles stand out from the thousands of other dull articles out there by including personal stories or just having fun while writing. For instance, this article could be entitled “How to Write a Good Article”, but would it stand out from the hundreds of other articles about article writing? Probably not.

SpongeBob: This little guy always tries to do the right thing, and is a hard worker. He may not always end up getting the results he hoped for, but he bounces back and tackles his work with a renewed vigor. SpongeBob works very hard, he’s a good friend, he always thinks of others, and tries to have fun no matter what he is faced with. Hardworking, friendly SpongeBob is the guy to be when writing articles.

article writingAlthough this is a silly lesson in article writing, I hope you’ll remember the important messages our underwater friends have taught us.

1. Write articles to help others, not with dollar signs in your eyes.

2. Write your own material. Don’t copy others.

3. Proofread your articles carefully, and provide valuable information.

4. Be entertaining. Not boring.

5. Be a SpongeBob! Hard work and persistence pay off.

Before you know it, you’ll develop a following for having informative and entertaining articles and you’ll be King or Queen of the sea.

You…A Travel Agent Home Business Owner?

The question should be…”Is this a dying profession?”  Well, summer is over, but there are still some great travel deals out there, and most people think that going online is where you go to find the deals.  So this might be the end of the travel agencies in the next few years.  Even President Obama recently used travel agents as an example of a dying profession.  Well, I beg to differ.

There are still over 14,000 travel agencies active in the United States, and 94% of them made a profit this past summer. Should you even consider owning an offline or travel agent home business in this age of “Point and click?  Let’s see…

Against all predictions, the bricks and mortar travel agencies…the kind you can walk into and talk to real people is alive and well today.  You see, even after summer is over, people can’t wait to go away again.  Despite the downturn in the economy, people are still traveling a lot.  According to Liberty Travel, the number of customers has grown every single year.  But wait a minute…Bricks and Mortar?  That’s what companies like Borders was in the book business until the Internet killed that off.

Before we go any further…Following is a video I thought I should share with you…

Secret Seats on Airplanes

What About Expedia, Orbitz, etc?

Isn’t everyone supposed to go to online travel to sites like Kayak, Expedia, Priceline, orbitz, etc, and find rock bottom travel packages and cut out the middleman?  Wasn’t that the point they made on 30 Rock not long ago?  Well guess what…there is a migration back to traditional travel agents.  It’s so damn frustrating trying to find great travel deals at sites like Expedia.  It’s not as easy as they make it seem in their commercials.

I would rather have an online travel agent find a good deal for me…like a trip to my home town in St. Vincent.  I lived in one of those houses on the beach… in the picture below.  Gorgeous isn’t it?  Looking at it makes me homesick.  I need a vacation.

travel agent home businessNow there are some things that we still need a middleman for.  Some people survive online using sites like Expedia, but many are lost and get frustrated like my mom and myself.  You see, dealing with a travel agent is still a human experience in a way that doing business on the internet is not.

Humans, you can talk to when booking travel, but an airline website…No!  It’s what you call, real backup.  When something goes wrong, you have someone to call…an expert travel agent.  And the great thing about it is, you don’t have to have a Brick and Mortar travel agency.  You can work from home…own a travel agent home business.

Many people who made reservations via travel sites like Orbitz got stuck in the path of Hurricane Irene.  However,  if they booked with a travel agent, they could call the agent and have the travel agent change their plans with minimum fuss to get them where they want to go.  No holding for hours on the phone…all the work done for them.  Travel agents usually have real knowledge about the world out there.

I think I’m getting a bit carried away here…looking at videos instead of finishing up my article.  Shame on me…he he

What about finding cheaper deals online?

Travel agents can help you get the same price or even do better than the prices online.  So despite what you might have heard, travel agencies are here to stay.  The internet is not killing this industry.  So if you would like to start a travel agency…own a travel agent home business.  There is no need to open a store offline. You can start your business for as little at $200.

Not sure you want to be a travel agent home business owner, but want to own a business online in the travel industry?  Well, you can create a cruise review blog like Small Ship Cruises Review.  There are so many ways you can make a good living online with a review site like Small Ship Cruises.  You can advertise almost anything that has to do with cruise travel and earn a commission from the ads and affiliate products you post on a site like that.

10 Best And Real Work At Home Jobs…

According to Yahoo Finance, travel agents made the list of the 10 best and real work at home jobs.  Make sure you check out the list on Yahoo Finance.  You might see something else on that list that interest you.

Again, despite the fact that the internet makes it easy for people to book their travel online, travel agents are not going away.  It’s a great home business to start.  So what are you waiting for?  Let us help you get started today.  Well that concludes the travel agent home business post.  Hope you enjoyed it.

Small Home Plans

Want to live 100% debt free, pay only $75 in utilities annually and make money at the same time? Yes? Despite what is going on with the economy, it is paving the way for some people to live a comfortable life. This is for those who can see past the negative aspects of the economy and find a way to thrive from it.

Many are doing it and plan to do so just like my best friend.  She called me the other day quite excited.  She told me that there is a huge movement…the tiny homes movement where people are downsizing and getting rid of their mortgages, other debts.  Many are able to quit their jobs because the cost of living is so low.

Living large: A look inside the tiny house movement | PBS

The world is learning to live small and Jay Shafer is leading the way. CNN even says so! Mortgage free? $75/year in utilities? Not a slave to your house anymore? Escape the rat race? Can you live this way?

My friend was excited because she too decided that she was going to move to Asheville North Carolina and build her tiny homes. All she needs is some cheap but solid materials, small home plans, and a little help and she will be living a debt-free life.  It’s amazing how things are changing drastically since the downturn in the economy.  People are doing whatever they can to save money and survive this crisis.  It’s sad to say, but it has to get worse in order for it to get better.  So we have quite some time before we are out of the woods.  So this tiny house movement actually makes a lot of sense.

small home plans

Since we don’t really own our real estate in the country, why not build our own tiny homes.  As far as finding the land to build the homes on, that can be rented for a small fee.  If you already have land…it makes life much easier.  I am thinking as I type that people who have mortgages and a nice sized backyard or maybe a garage could rent out their homes, convert their garages into a Tiny Home and live happily ever after.  Why not?  Well pride would cause lots of people not to do this.

The thought would be, “Who in their right mind would want to rent out their nice homes to others while they have to gather the small home plans to build pretty much what my husband calls a dog house.  Well that’s how he feels.  However, for some reason, I think it makes sense.  Do we really need a lot of “Stuff” to survive?  No…not at all.  So that should sum it all up.  We can live on very little and have a happy live.  Living with a lot of debt can be torture.  So I end this by saying, “More power to the Tiny Homes Movement.”

Small Home Plans……

IN his 20s, Michael Janzen made pottery and lived in a cabin in rural California that he estimates was “about the size of a two-car garage.” After he married, he went into Web design for a bank, and now at 40 has all the trappings of a successful homeowner: in-ground pool, maid service, a yard landscaped with Japanese black pine bonsai trees. His 1,800-square-foot home in Fair Oaks, Calif., a one-story model by Streng Brothers, midcentury builders in the Eichler mold, is of a kind coveted by fans of modern design.

THE LILLIPUTIAN LIFE Some homeowners are using their new little houses as offices or retreats, like the 80-square-foot one owned by Michael Janzen. Others choose to actually live in theirs, like Dee Williams, whose 84-square-foot knotty-pine house has a tight but cozy interior. So why has Mr. Janzen spent the summer building an 80-square-foot “tiny house” out of free stuff he found on Craigslist?

There he is on nights and weekends, designing a floor plan whose dimensions are measured not in feet but inches, nailing scavenged wood pallets together for the frame, or fixing up an old trailer to serve as the foundation. The initial reaction from his wife, Julia: “Is this a Unabomber building?”

Not exactly. According to Mr. Janzen, he came to the realization that “I don’t want this life — the life of someone who’s working too hard to pay a large mortgage to live in this house.” The catalyst, he said, was watching the value of his home plummet with the rest of the real estate market, while the time and money required to maintain the property only increased. “The energy cost is enormous,” he said, “and the bigger your property gets, the more there is to do.”

Which is why Mr. Janzen has become interested in the small house movement, whose adherents believe in minimizing one’s footprint — structural as well as carbon — by living in spaces that are smaller than 1,000 square feet and, in some cases, smaller than 100. Tiny houses have been a fringe curiosity for a decade or more, but devotees believe the concept’s time has finally arrived.
