Mold in the news

If you are hearing a lot about mold removal and remediation, you might be left with a lot of questions. This article is intended to help answer a few of the questions that you might have.

First, if you live in Rhode Island, consider calling the professionals at Mold Remediation Providence.

The single biggest reason you might have mold in your home is because of water. This can either be due to a leak or a case of excessive condensation or humidity. Areas such as basements, attics and crawl spaces, and wall interiors are some of the common places to find mold. The bathroom is another spot, especially if there is not adequate ventilation.

Most of the time the mold that you might find in your home can be cleaned up without employing the help of a professional. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) suggests that if the area is smaller than 10 square feet in size, the homeowner can safely clean it themselves. The EPA has determined that the bulk of mold found in homes is not toxic and so there is no reason to have it tested.

Bleach is often used to clean mold. Many people use it and would recommend it, however according to the EPA there is no guarantee that bleach does in fact kill mold. There are biocides that have been approved by the EPA that will do the job better. You can find many of them at local home improvement stores.

You can find mold and mildew cleaners at most hardware stores or home centers. When cleaning up mold, be sure to wear a breathing mask and gloves. This will not only protect your hands and lungs from the chemicals but will also offer protection from any mold spores.

Before you begin mold cleanup, you will want to find the source of the problem and put a stop to it. This could be a leaking pipe or a window that needs to have new caulk put around it to keep the elements out. It may even mean purchasing a dehumidifier to keep the humidity in the room under control. If you are not able to locate the source of the problem, you may want to contact a mold inspector to help you find the problem and remedy it.

If you find mold, do not panic. It is probably not toxic, and it is likely that you can handle the mold remediation yourself for a fraction of what you will pay if you call in professionals. Using the proper tools and the right protection will ensure a safe cleanup and a mold free home.

Remember that if you have more than just a little mold, you really should call the professionals. If you live in Rhode Island, consider calling the professionals at Mold Remediation Providence.

Recently I was looking into getting a home security system in Lafayette, LA. I had an alarm system at my previous residence which the previous owner had installed, but for whatever reason, I did not bother to get one immediately when we moved into a new home. I decided for the protection of my family that we needed some kind of home system, but I really didn’t know where to start.

In doing my research, I found that there are actually 2 basic types of systems: hard-wired and wireless which may or may not be connected to a dedicated monitoring center. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but the components used in each type were similar and served the same purposes. Both have a control panel, a keypad, door and window sensor units, motion detectors, and options for surveillance cameras.

But there was one (I thought) really cool piece of security equipment I came across that is really unique and could be a valuable addition to your core security package. It’s an alarm with a motion sensor that emits the sound of a large dog barking in the house. The barking gets louder as someone approaches the house and it does not go off if something small, like a cat, is roaming around outside. The sound is so realistic, it even fools other dogs!

Here’s a video I found that demonstrates one of these alarms.

i already know its cheap and it provides mobility…but what are the other benefits?

Its the fastest wireless network option available at this point in time.

My response to Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs wrote a letter for reasons why he does not allow flash. Quite simply one reason could easily be said without all the rigmarole. Simply put Adobe was not ready with a mobile version, and when they are, Apple would have a look. However Jobs went into what he states are the “technical issues” when it still remains a business decision. Much of which on the “technical issues” most are very much like the pot calling the kettle black.
