I am more computer savvy than the average 27 year-old. I’m really good with all Microsoft Office products. But I want to know more about the behind-the-scenes… I want to know about how computers really work, how software works, how to create a website from scratch. I know how to do most things because most programs are user-friendly. But I’d like to know how to use things like Frontpage, java, wordpress? I have so many questions and I have no idea where to start from.
Whoa.. slow down. Please go one by one. I suggest get a book on computer architecture?

Why is it that DVD technology took over home video, when its predecessor, Laser Disc, completely flopped?
Author: adminMar 12
Laser Disc, introduced in the 1980s, went over like a proverbial lead balloon, leaving VHS in control of the market until DVD drove VHS out of the picture in the 1990s. Why did DVD succeed while Laser Disc failed?
Another great question would be why did VHS win over Beta? Laser Disc WAS superior over VHS and it also WAS comparative in price with higher end HiFi VHS recorders. The thing that tipped the scale I think was the fact that VHS is recordable while Laser Disc is strictly a playback technology.
I have two laser disc players, by the way. They make great boat anchors but are a little bulky for door stops.

Maybe, since when I got home I wouldn’t be allowed to do Magic, though I’d be reading my magic books all the time.
I’d invite Luna Lovegood [since we're such good friends xD] and my friends over and show them the magic of the internet. They’ll shit themselves ;D

has anyone received a major in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology?
Author: adminMar 9
I am going to transfer soon but i’m not so sure what to do. I want to go for computer engineering but i’m also interested in computer engineering. I know i can major in both, but i saw this major "Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology" so i was wondering if this was a combination of both, or what exactly is it? Also what type of jobs could i work in if i majored in this…thanks in advance.
The difference is one guy is an actual engineer the other is a tech. They went to different schools. Im currently major in Computer engineering degree.
A degree in Engineering and a degree in Technology are different. an engineering makes you become an engineer( in long term you can get a job) while a tech degree make you become technician/technologist.
The ECE degree requires math through calculus III and differential equations, while ECET stops at calculus II.
Engineer = design / management if public safety is involved. $25 – $65 / hour.
Technologist = build / repair according to the Engineer’s design; design things that would not harm the public if the product failed. $16 – $30 / hour
Technician = build / repair. $8 – $24 / hour
Can hydrogen fuel cell technology be used to replace a natural gas burning furnace in a home?
Author: adminMar 9
it could, but it’d be more expensive for everyone. the hydrogen has to come from somewhere, made industrially, so it’d be more polluting, given that most of the world’s power is from coal power plants

Is there a technology that can connect a PC’s audio to a home sound system?
Author: adminMar 8
I wish to utilize my surroundsound system to play audio from my PC. Is there an easily adaptable (USB) connectivity?
What form of connective cables would I use?
The easiest, cheapest, and cable to get, has a stereo plug on one end and two RCA type plugs on the other end, plug the RCA plugs into the AUX input on your home sound system. For surround sound, you will most likely need two. Of course your computer sound card must support Surround Sound.

Far Eastern University “Home of the FEU Tamaraws”
Author: adminMar 8
one of the best educational institution in the country
Far Eastern University (FEU) (PSE: FEU) in the City of Manila, West Sampaloc, University Belt area is a nonsectarian, private university in the Philippines. It was founded as a domestic educational institution in 1928 and incorporated in 1933, being the 6th oldest university[citation needed] in the Philippines and the 4th oldest private, non-sectarian university in the country based on its extant university charter.[1]
FEU is a founding member of the two major collegiate athletic organizations in the Philippines, namely the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-Philippines) and the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).[2]
FEU was once dubbed as the “Largest University in Asia,”[1] with an almost 50,000-student population in the early 1950s.
The university is one of the pioneers in accountancy education in the Philippines. It has programs in architecture, fine arts, the arts and sciences, commerce, education, engineering and technology, graduate research, law, nursing, and medicine.
Among its alumni are former Supreme Court Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban of the Institute of Law, business tycoon Henry Sy of the Institute of Accounts Business and Finance, renowned athlete Lydia de Vega-Mercado of the Institute of Education, among others.
One of the major additions to FEU’s facilities is the newly inaugurated Technology Building II, a modern nine-storey building that houses FEU East Asia College and IARFA. Recently, the university received a UNESCO Heritage award for having the largest ensemble of preserved art deco buildings in the country.
FEU is the first university in the Philippines to have campus wide WiFi coverage for its community.[citation needed]
FEU also is the first to implement a University Wide Biometric Smart Card ID system aimed to enhance its security protocols. The FEU community is required to be fingerprinted and photographed for the generation of the FEU Biometric database that is integrated to gate computer terminals in which the Biometric ID is scanned prior to entry to the university. FEU has been dubbed as the most secured University in the Philippines because of this security implementation. Visitors are required to submit any Philippine issued Photo ID (PRC Card, Passport, Driver’s License, SSS Digitized ID, etc.) for Filipinos and Passport for Foreign Guests at the FEU Security Department for issuance of an FEU Visitor’s Pass.
The university also has ISO certification (9001:2000).[citation needed]

what computer technology is used in gaming systems?
Author: adminMar 7
I’m currently writing a paper on computer technology on the topic of gaming. Any ideas where to begin?. Anything would help to get me started. Thanks
I’m not sure exactly which "technologies" you are referring to. The video card, hard drive, DVD / Blu-Ray drive, USB ports, etc… are all very similar to ones found on a standard PC. The original Xbox, especially, was a modified PC.
http://www.xbox-linux.org/docs/xboxpc.html
The software "technologies" are also very similar. The same techniques are used in video rendering; the game engines are frequently ported to and from the PC with little trouble, etc… Linux can be run on modern consoles, very similar to PCs.
If the technology became available, would you want to power your home using nuclear energy?

Using a home-unit nuclear reactor that could fit in your basement?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_reactor
There’s a big difference between technologically possible and practical. A nuclear power plant is very expensive to run. That expense can only be recovered by achieving a very large economy of scale. So why would you want one to power just your home?
Tactical Light Demos: Fenix P3D vs SureFire E2D vs TL2
Author: adminMar 7
A revolution has occurred in tactical lighting products. If you thought or still think the Maglite is the best flashlight made, or even a SureFire, Blackhawk, or Pentagon light (all good but way $$$), you are way behind the times dude. Things have changed: there some amazingly high-value, high quality flashlights in nowadays that could re-define what you think a flashlight can do. And this revolution will probably continue to evolve and improve as time goes on with even different brands vying for the “best light” title. These days lighting technology is akin to computer technology, with new generations quickly outpacing and obsolescing older technology. But fret not and dont think you have to wait for even better lights. Thats because right now the Fenix brand is producing amazingly capable lights for around $50. Nowadays the Fenix company is offering overseas-produced, ultra-high quality CREE-brand LED lights with amazing output and duration. Moreover these lights are digitally regulated to ensure consistent output despite a varying output battery, theyre lightweight, waterproof, tough, and have a host various output modes. In the Fenix P3DQ model, you can select from multiple brightness levels uses the rear mounted switch and a slight rotation of the bezels. A bright strobe mode is included (shown in the video). In this night time demo in the quiet desert, I pit the P3D against the Surefire E2D and the Streamlight TL2. The P3D pretty much owned the others. **** Look for Nutnfancys table top reviews of these excellent lights in the future which will include his Philosophy of Use (PoU). Fenix lights were purchased from Yourcornerstore.com (excellent source) for around $50 each.
