I use to have DSL thru Bellsouth. Then we moved into a house that is wired with some kind of Smart House (smart home) technology. I couldn’t get a DSL signal after we moved into our new home. I wound up discontinuing my DSL (since it wasn’t working anyway). Now..a couple of years later I’m wanting to go back to DSL. I’m afraid it’s not going to work. I have no idea how this Smart House stuff works..especially with the computer networking. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
No, I did not get an instruction manual. I wish it were that simple to get a manual. That’s why I’m on here trying to get help.

You SHOULD have recieved an instruction manual regarding the technology when you moved in.
Try READING the manual!!
If you did NOT get instructions, you might try to get a set now.

Do you have a sixth sense?
In our everyday lives, we are using our 5 senses to take in information in the world around us and to respond to it: touching, seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting. Have you ever thought about what could be the sixth sense, particularly when living in 21st century, in the age of information technologies, where everything is going online and mobile?
Well, what discovered the MIT students is something that can totally be described as turning internet into the sixth human sense. Besides using all your 5 senses, now you are always in need of having some information from the computer or from internet. How about having all that with you and feeling like Tom Cruise in Minority Report?
SixthSense is the latest invention from MIT folks, which gives you the opportunity to get on spot information about anything you want with just having a flat surface. SixthSense is a wearable gestural interface that augments the physical world around us with digital information and lets you use natural hand gestures to interact with that information. By using a camera and a tiny projector mounted in a pendant like wearable device, SixthSense sees what you see and visually augments any surfaces or objects we are interacting with. It projects information onto surfaces, walls, and physical objects around us, and lets you interact with the projected information through natural hand gestures, arm movements, or your interaction with the object itself. SixthSense attempts to free information from its confines by seamlessly integrating it with reality, and thus making the entire world your computer.
This was also presented on the TED conference, and you can watch how Pattie Maes of the labs Fluid Interfaces group presents it.

Hellol.
I have a question about what kinds of jobs or careers that related to Computers, Technology, or Computer Network Electronic Technology in Civil Service field.

The same ones that are available in the private sector. go to www.usajobs.com and you can search civil service jobs.

its for school – ivce got to write about loads of things like drawbacks of using it and cost.

I think one of the most popular items now is wind generation for the home. This link will help you with all the pros and cons to owning a generator.

I am 16 years old and I am trying to find a good college I can get into that will train me for a successful career in computer technology. I am very good with computers and plan on pu rsuing a career in Computer Engineering. Now I am currently living in Memphis, Tennessee so if there is someone who lives near the area, plaease inform me. Thank You.

If you want to apply to top-tier schools and it doesn’t matter where you travel, I recommend Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, or California schools like Harvey Mudd College or California Institute of Technology (Caltech).

If you’re looking for someplace in Tennessee because you can’t or won’t travel far, Vanderbilt University in Nashville is among the top 50 in the nation:

Good luck in your chosen career!

has the quality of sound improved in home CD players since the 90s ? I was wondering if it pay to upgrade to a newer CD player. I have a Kenwood CD204 now

I beleive that the CD player you have has a digital coaxial output, if you run a cable from the digital coaxial output to a digital coaxial input on a sound system the quality of the audio output would be up to the Sound system.
Compact Discs are encoded to a specification defined by the red book standard which was developed in the late 70’s and early 80’s and are recorded in a 2 channel 16 bit PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) format, the digital output on the CD player would be sending a raw PCM bitstream to the sound system which then decodes it into a 2 channel analog output. Most decent sound systems and nearly all stand alone amplifiers these days have processors like "Dolby pro logic" and "DTS Neo 6" to matrix a 2 channel input into a 5.1 channel output. I have a Harman Kardon AVR 130 amplifier (5 years old) and a sony CD player from about 1994 and the sound I get out of that is great….. its all about how its wired up

In this day and age of computer technology you might wonder if there’s still money in typewriter repair work. 2/10/2010.

How To Build A House in A Day

This is a wood framing technology, originally from Japan, that I led the effort to transfer to the USA. Essentially a small group of untrained people can erect an entire house frame in 1-3 days, depending on the size of the structure.

The system is precut 100% by CAD/CAM–see that process here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NY6ujuDexzI Uses engineered wood and wastewood (glulams, LSL) and is very resource and energy efficient. It can also be much more energy efficient than stick framing using innovative insulated panels similar to SIPs.

The framing costs, with full custom precut are about double that of pile of 2×6’s and nails–Built in a couple of days, without any skilled labor means the final erected cost is about 20-30% less than stick framing.

For those who might be worried about stability, Japan has 3 seismic occurrences per day and this system meets all japanese earthquake and typhoon standards.

Can you please identify the benefits and importance of studying computer and computer technology?

it can help us solve mysteries and conclude theories for instance know pluto is not a planet we discovered it because of technology

everyone needs some where to store there photos where they aren’t in danger of being lost or erased.

Nope, most internet home based buisinesses are scams and pyramid schemes, and the creators need to be shot.

Under the Computer Science major there are 2 different emphasis: Computer Information Systems and Computer Technology. What is the difference between the 2 and what kind of different jobs do they get?

From what I understand ..
Information Systems study mainly involves studying things like..
Data Base, Software design, some form of programing in high level language,Human Computer Interaction, AI etc..
Computer Technology will involve studying..
Some form of programing in machine level/binary level languages, hardware design, networking, etc..
In a nut shell, IS == information storage and retreival methodologies and design.
CT == Hardware design aspect and physical computer.

At least this is what I fond during my studies and working as a tutor at Uni.. Hopes this helps :)

We owned a two story home before becoming handicapped. We now need to locate assistance to help us sell this home and obtain a technology assisted handicapped home that fits our needs. Does anyone know how we can do this in Wisconsin

Please contact your local DWD Department of Workforce Developement. They should have information on this subject.
There is a home in the Green Bay, Wisconsin area designed for the needs that you are describing. God’s blessings to you. Please email me if you need anymore help at uno_juan@yahoo.com

In this video Technology Today segment we introduce up and coming film composer, James Schafer. James was the grand prize winner of the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) Young Film Composers Competition this year. James’ entry was selected from over 900 submissions to win a $15,000 cash prize, a Mac Pro audio production workstation and the opportunity to score the 1924 silent film Beau Brummel which will premiere on the TCM network.

James offers a tour of his home studio about an hour outside of Los Angeles. He talks about his experience of the competition, and the new challenges ahead of him both technologically and creatively. He shows off his production rig (newly decked out, courtesy of Apple), and explains his workflow from home studio, to his various collaborators and finally to a recording stage.

write an article for a teens magazine in which you explain your own views and opinions about computer technology. Write between 150-200 words
some ideas:
-learning with a computer is much more fun than reading from books.
-computers are making the world lonely and dehumanised.
-computers made the transfer of information easy, cheap and fast.
-computers made it possible for people to work or even follow cources from home.

Regarding the issue of computers making "the world" lonely, I read of a study a few years ago that concluded that those who used computers were actually more socially in touch with others than those who didn’t use them.

They cited the use of email, social networking sites, sending family pictures, joining discussion groups, etc. as factors.

I am doing an assignment to do with computer technology of the future and have got to a part where I would like to include cars in this. Can anybody help me list a few useful car computer technologys for the future
I’m appreciating the answers, does anybody know of any reliable sources I can find out more about these from?

Check out some of the manufacturer websites such as Honda, Toyota etc.
They probably have some information about future developments on them.

I Want to be my own ISP and host from my place.

Depends on what you consider a "low price". In order to be an ISP you needs to provide Internet access via some method to clients. Usually this starts out as a modem bank but it could be DSL, cable, partial T1, Frame relay. What ever you wish. Those line would then have to run to the house where servers are hosted. You will also need a firewall and a couple of routers. These to segment out the servers. Let alone the fact that you will need to purchase a range of public IP addresses. These will then need to be assigned to your firewall and clients.

First and foremost, if you are in the USA, you will need to ensure that your property is zoned properly for housing all of this equipment, the proper fire suppression and running a business.

Being an ISP is not an easy nor inexpensive task!
